COLLEGE OF TOURISM - PORTOROZ

It is already our tradition every year to host visitors from the College of Tourism in Portoroz. Under the leadership of Dr. Rok Ovsenik, students come to Miami to study travel. Because of their heavy schedule, Slovenska Palma likes to entertain the students along with American Slovenes who live in Miami. We organize a picnic for them and you can see their pictures on our web site. In the next Palma News you will be able to read more about the purpose of their visit to Miami.

Vsako leto nas obisce skupina studentov  iz Turistice - Visoke sole za turizem iz Portoroza. Pod vodstvom dr. Roka Ovenika pridejo studentje na strokovno ekskurzijo v Miami. V sklopu strokovne ekskurzije pa se studenti vedno radi poveselijo v druzbi ameriskih slovencev, ki so jim, kot vsako leto, tudi letos pripravili zanimiv in okusen piknik. Naslednjic vam naipisemo vec o namenu njihovega obiska.

DAN ZENA

 

V soboto 3. marca smo se srecali clani drustva Palma ob praznovanju dneva zena. Srecanje se je odvijalo  v Lauderdale Isles Yacht & Tennis Clubu. Zbralo se nas je okoli 100 prijateljev slovenske kulture. Slovenci so nas obiskali iz razlicinih koncev Floride, Clevelanda in Slovenije. Obiskali so nas tudi studentje in profesorji iz St. Thomas univerze. Zasluga za ta obisk gre nasemu tajniku Sandri Zupan, ki koncuje magisterij na omenjeni univerzi. Vse zene smo nagradili z  nageljnem  in rozmarinom...................................

WOMEN'S DAY

 On Saturday, March 3, the members of Slovenska Palma met at Ft. Lauderdale Isles Yacht & Tennis Club to celebrate Women's Day. There were about 100 attendees dedicated to celebrating Slovenian heritage. Slovenians came to participate at this event from different parts of Florida, Cleveland, and even Slovenia, including our friends from St. Thomas University, who introduced their customs and rituals. Sandra Zupan, who is pursuing her Master's Degree at the university...................................

GASTRONOMY EVENT

On August 7th we all met at the Bispo’s Cellar in Pompano Beach to introduce to the public a variety of Slovenian wine and beer. At the same time we introduced home-made potica and apple strudel.  Over 40 people joined us at the event; some of them members of Slovenska Palma.
